Beschreibung

Dazu kommen wohldosierte instrumentale Beigaben von u. a.

————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Carus Thompson is one of the finest Australian singer/songwriters. And he is also one of the most productive. The release of his new solo CD „Creature Of Habit“ in February 2009 closely follows the CD “Cover Tapes” (autumn 2008). And “Three Boxes”, the last CD with his Band „Carus & The True Believers“ to date, is just under two years old (all CD’s: Valve Records). Then, if you take a look at Thompson’s touring timetable, you may ask yourself if this Australian bundle of energy ever gets enough sleep.

Anyway, the creation of “Creature Of Habit” didn’t suffer from his busy schedule. In fact, Carus has succeeded in focusing his creativity and joy of playing to come up with a mature and laid-back solo album that is full of intimacy, intensity and emotion. The often sparse instrumentation and precise arrangements of the 10 songs let the music breathe and flow freely. Once again, Greg Arnold delivers an expertly production (as on “Three Boxes”). In contrast to the rockier direction of the last album with a full band, the sound on “Creature Of Habit” is mainly acoustic and minimalistic, which suits Carus Thompson, the singer and songwriter, just fine. His great guitar, harmonica and mandolin playing is a perfect supplement to his passionate voice. Perfectly measured colours of piano, organ, ukulele, glockenspiel, violin and trumpet are added here and there, always serving the brilliant original compositions. Carus takes great pride in his new album, and rightly so.

As a huge Thank You for all the support of his fans, the first pressing of Carus Thompson’s new album comes with a strictly limited edition BONUS DISC, namely the album „Live at Tube Temple Studios“ which contains nine additional tracks, eight of them written by Carus. This bonus CD includes previously unreleased songs like „Dancing In The Wind“ and „You and I Know“, as well as acoustic versions of tunes like „Warnings Signs“ and „Last Days Of Winter“. The album has been recorded at Tube Temple Studios in Solingen, Germany in June 2008 (the same live session that spawned „Cover Tapes“, Thompson’s personal collection of cover versions of original songs by Australian songwriters). What you’ll hear is pure Carus, playing live to a crowd of die-hard, enthusiastic fans.
